This historic house was used as a key location to film the movie Maria’s Lovers in 1983 and released in 1984. The movie is based on a story of a WWII POW returning home to find his true love, whose lasting image helped him survive his capture. The house has been restored to its original look in the movie, while still retaining all the original siding, interior trim, pocket doors, stairs, wood floors/fireplaces, and other decorative details from when it was built in 1910. The home is decorated completely in 1940’s or earlier furnishings along with movie memorabilia and amazing historical town documents to read and view.

Maria's Lovers is a 1984 American drama film directed by Andrei Konchalovsky and starring Nastassja Kinski, John Savage, John Goodman, and Robert Mitchum. The plot follows a soldier returning from World War II who marries the woman of his dreams, but struggles with his Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and despite indiscretions and bad choices love finds its way home.

Frank Melega (1905-1997) was a local artist in Brownsville and ran a sign shop among other things. So this is most appropriate!
